Thousands of heart patients in England can now benefit from new daily treatment

NICE estimates that around 6,600 people in England could be eligible for the new treatment.
The medicine works by reducing excessive contraction of the heart muscle, allowing blood to flow more easily and helping the heart pump more efficiently.
Patients taking aficamten will still undergo regular heart monitoring to ensure the treatment remains safe and effective.
Faster access through joint workingThe announcement also marks an important milestone in how new medicines are introduced to NHS patients.
While aficamten offers an additional treatment option, patients will continue to receive regular heart scans throughout treatment to monitor heart function and ensure the medicine is working safely.
