The 23-year-old had also been embroiled in a controversy during the 2022 World Cup when then-USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter almost sent Reyna home over disciplinary issues. That rolled into an even more bizarre incident that involved Reyna’s parents and Berhalter following the World Cup four years ago.
