KAREN REGOAs a 27-year public school teacher and taxpayer, I expect public dollars to go toward improving the public schools that 90 percent of American students attend – not religious and private schools for the privileged few.
Opposing the federal school voucher scheme – created last year by President Trump’s big, ugly bill – should be an easy call.
I traveled to Washington last month to speak at the U.S. Capitol on behalf of the Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act, which would do just that.
I’m calling on members of Congress to support the Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act.
Rather than funding two separate school systems, federal dollars should directly fund our public schools, so that every kid in every community can access a quality education.
