–The Camp Algona POW Museum will host a special event next week featuring a presentation from a professor and author who will discuss what our area looked like before Iowa became a state. Museum spokesman Brian Connick tells KLGA News that Kevin Mason be in Algona to discuss his book “Retracing the Dragoon Trail” on Wednesday, August 5th. Mason is a History Professor at the University of Northern Iowa who walked the Dragoon Trail himself back in 2021, following the Des Moines River across the state. The event will be held inside the Camp Algona POW Museum on Wednesday, August 5th beginning at 6:30 PM. Mason, who recently gave a presentation on this subject in Bancroft, will have copies of his book available for purchase that night.
