It was a surprise phone call that led Chelsea graduate Aurora Welling to learn she was getting a full-ride scholarship to Michigan State University. The Sun Times News reached out to Welling after learning she was awarded the Joseph R. and Sarah L. Williams Scholarship, which is a premier, full-ride merit award covering tuition, housing, food and specialized stipend for up to eight semesters. Welling plans on studying mechanical engineering at MSU, possibly with an art minor. She said she’s also very excited about the research placement that comes with the scholarship. “One of the main things I liked about MSU was its focus on undergraduate research, especially because I am considering research in engineering as a career,” Welling said.
