Rucsu General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar, along with eight others, has been sued for attempted murder by the father of a Rajshahi University student, who was pulled from an ambulance and beaten during the recent violence on campus. Mahin is one of the three students who were beaten by Ammar and several other Rucsu and Shibir members, who accused them of belonging to the banned student organisation Chhatra League. It alleged that Ammar, along with Rucsu Assistant General Secretary SM Salman Sabbir, hit Mahin on the head, injuring his left eye. Earlier on July 27, Ammar and several other Rucsu and Shibir members beat three students inside the university proctor’s office and later at the central library. A Rajshahi court sent the two students to jail.
