OGUN ABDUCTION;GUNMEN ABDUCT 5 STUDENTS OF GATEWAY ICT POLY, SAAPADEThe Ogun State Police Command and the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, have confirmed the abduction of five students by suspected gunmen from a private hostel in IparaIn a joint statement signed by the SUG President, Comrade Akinpelu Bukunmi Timothy; the General Secretary, Comrade Salau Boluwaduro Saidat; and the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Amb. Matthew Francis Sonayon (Sonat), the attack occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at a private student hostel along Paraga Road, Ipara. Reports say the gunmen operated for about 30 minutes, firing several gunshots during the attack. While no student was killed, several escaped by breaking through the POP ceiling, while others were unable to flee. Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the incidentHowever, the Command noted that the exact number of victims was yet to be officially established, as verification and investigation were still ongoing.
