New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in Parliament on Thursday to review the evolving situation in West Asia and assess its potential impact on India’s energy security, according to media reports. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal were also present. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval attended the meeting alongside senior government and security officials. According to media reports, the CCS reviewed contingency plans aimed at ensuring uninterrupted fuel supplies should the security situation in West Asia deteriorate further. West Asia remains a key source of India’s energy imports, accounting for a substantial share of the country’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) requirements.
