Two vacationing firefighters from Connecticut alerted a sleeping family of a house fire near Pine Point Beach in Scarborough on Tuesday. Scarborough Communications Center began receiving several 911 calls at approximately 12:25 p.m. reporting a house fire with people possibly trapped at 4 Sea Meadows Lane. The vacationing firefighters noticed the smoke on their way to Old Orchard Beach and discovered flames traveling up the back of the home and reaching the roof line , according to a release from the Scarborough Fire Department. Upon entry, they woke and safely escorted two adults out of the home who were sleeping on the first floor. They then used a fire extinguisher and a garden hose to keep the flames at bay until Old Orchard Beach Fire Department arrived at 12:31 p.m., followed by Scarborough Fire shortly after.
