A California man was charged with murder in the death of his Maine mother, officials say. Safford James Wolfson, 36, is accused of “bludgeoning” 61-year-old Angela Caprioli to death with a hammer in his Laguna Beach home, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Spokespeople for the district attorney’s office could not confirm Caprioli’s town of residence on Thursday. Wolfson was taken to the hospital to be treated “for self-inflicted injuries to his neck,” the office said. The district attorney’s office said Wolfson is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 1.
