Transport for Wales has launched an anonymous line for reporting cable and metal theft, the crime that stopped trains at Shotton in June last year. TfW Protect went live on Monday, with the service covering cable and metal-related thefts across the network. “We’re glad that TfW Protect can give the reassurance that information can be shared safely, confidently and anonymously.” Transport for Wales said calls are not recorded, phone numbers are not visible to the service and IP addresses are scrambled. Cable theft on the railway is investigated by British Transport Police.
