Drought status has been declared across Wales following a sustained period of high temperatures and a lack of rainfall. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said today that conditions across Wales’ natural environment had continued to deteriorate, with some groundwater levels lower than expected for this time of year. This follows the announcement last week, where north Wales & Upper Severn entered into drought status after hydrological and environmental thresholds for drought had been met. The majority of rivers across Wales are exceptionally low, including the Rivers Clwyd, Dyfi, Alyn, Clywedog, Dyfi, Conwy, Cleddau, Cothi, Teifi, Wye and Usk.
