The Delta State Government has dismissed claims that the state is experiencing political violence, insisting that the recent disturbance at a political gathering in Effurun was an isolated incident and does not reflect the overall security situation in the state.
“The governor has directed security agencies to investigate both the immediate and remote causes of the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
We will allow the security agencies to conclude their work before making further comments,” Aniagwu said.
The commissioner also rejected attempts to link the disturbance to President Bola Tinubu or portray it as evidence of widespread political unrest in Delta State.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace, law and order, adding that Delta State remains safe for residents, businesses and investors.
