Crook County emergency response leaders discuss ‘historic’ wildfires

More than 55 engines from throughout Oregon, Washington and California are in Central Oregon fighting wildfires.
(Oregon Department of Forestery/submitted)Crook County’s emergency responder agency leaders briefed Prineville City Council on Tuesday on wildfires that have scorched huge chunks of the county over the last two weeks.
Elliot added that facilitating evacuations from dangerous areas is the county sheriff’s role during wildfires.
“We are doing our best to help our neighbors, our community and Crook County as a whole,” Wilson said.
He noted the historic nature of the fires, but said that considerable have amassed in Crook County to fight them and protect property.
