The fire, which started July 23 about four miles southwest of Warm Springs, remains active despite cloud cover expected to moderate fire behavior. Firefighters are building contingency containment lines near Metolius Road to prevent the fire from moving south while continuing direct suppression efforts along the southwestern edge. Crews are also conducting firing operations on the northern perimeter and reinforcing containment lines on the northwest and eastern flanks. Portland General Electric said the fire has caused limited damage near its Pelton Round Butte hydroelectric project but has not affected power generation.
