First Nordlicht Transition Pieces Shipped for Germany’s Largest Offshore Wind ProjectThe first transition pieces for Vattenfall’s Nordlicht I offshore wind farm have been loaded out from the Port of Aalborg, Denmark, marking another major milestone in the construction of Germany’s largest offshore wind project.
Manufactured by CS Wind Offshore, the transition pieces will be transported for offshore installation by DEME, which is responsible for installing both the monopile foundations and transition pieces.
The variable-speed pumped storage facility will provide 600 MW of generation capacity and 6,000 MWh of daily energy storage, supporting greater integration of renewable energy and improving grid stability.
Commercial operations are targeted for 2030, with the project designated by the Philippine Department of Energy as an Energy Project of National Significance.
