Saft has launched the 3rd generation of its Flex’ion lithium-ion battery system for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications in data centres and other mission-critical facilities. The TotalEnergies subsidiary said Flex’ion Gen3 uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and can deliver 268kW from a 67kWh cabinet. The company claims a power density of up to 864kW/m² and energy density of 216kWh/m². Flex’ion Gen3 incorporates Saft’s in-house battery management system, based on the certified system used in previous Flex’ion products. The introduction of a new LFP module is also intended to make the system more affordable while improving power, energy density and ease of integration.
