Mayor Michelle Wu announced Thursday that the City of Boston will host the second-ever National Urban Rat Summit this fall.
We’re proud to host the second-ever National Urban Rat Summit this September, where we will share our progress, hear directly from residents, and learn from other cities,” Wu said in a statement.
She said the city has been deploying new technologies and strategies to manage and reduce rodent populations since 2024 when they launched their Boston Rodent Action Plan.
September's summit will be a way for cities to exchange best practices and continue developing new strategies.
The first National Urban Rat Summit was held in September of 2024 in New York City, hosted by then-Mayor Eric Adams.
