The proposed home will accommodate two looked-after children under 18 and include two staff members on-site, who will work shift patterns in the morning and late evening. It will keep its existing outside appearance and include two-off street parking spaces, with waste and cycle storage at the rear. The decision comes despite the council receiving 359 objections from residents and concerns from Belfairs ward councillors that the scheme would bring a "24-hour care operation" to a quiet road of detached family homes. The planning agent representing the applicant told councillors the foster care system "is in crisis".
