The collision, which involved two vehicles, occurred on Benfleet Road near Hadleigh shortly after 3.50pm on Wednesday. A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Two people were taken to hospital for further care. The service have confirmed that two patients were taken to Southend Hospital for further care. At the time, the AA described the incident as a "serious collision," and Benfleet Road was temporarily closed. The B1014 Benfleet Road near Hadleigh serves as a diversion route due to the ongoing gas works at Tarpots.
