Revised Ali Act introduced to U.S. Senate, could take effect by next July

The new Ali Act “gives fighters more control and more reliable opportunities,” the Cruz-Rosen summary reviewed by BoxingScene says. The Senate’s Ali Act will not require the creation of a federal body overseeing the sport, a step many observers believe could be beneficial. Cruz and Rosen of the Senate Commerce Committee explained the new Ali Act, “preserves state oversight and competitive integrity. The bill requires certified officials, public disclosures and enforceable conflict-of-interest rules without creating a new federal boxing regulator.”
