This long-standing practice captures Dougher’s belief that the college transition is a time for students to take ownership of their own health and well-being.
Dougher is the associate vice chancellor for health and well-being in the WashU Division of Student Success and an expert on student wellness and well-being.
I say to students, ‘Take charge, see how it goes, and if you mess it up, well, we can try it again.’
Additionally, as parents, we need to know and be OK with the fact that our students are going to make mistakes.
