Period-instrument violinist dies of breast cancer at 51 RIPnorman lebrecht July 30, 2026The death has been made known of Gabrielle Marie Wunsch, an American violinist who was assistant concertmaster and principal second violin of New Dutch Academy, Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, B’Rock, and the Nederlandse Bachvereniging for more than a decade. Back home in the US, she joined Philharmonia Baroque, returning often to Germany to play at Göttingen Handel Festspiele until her condition deteriorated. Gabi is survived by parents, siblings and many friends.
