The Sindh government has decided to establish three modern provincial data centers under its Digital Sindh initiative to strengthen digital governance, cybersecurity, and government data management across the province.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah with National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) Managing Director Major General (Retd.)
During the briefing, officials informed the chief minister that NTC currently operates data centers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Quetta, along with nearly 1,000 kilometers of optical fiber network in Sindh.
Officials also shared plans to establish a modern data center in Karachi to support e-governance and enhance data sovereignty.
The chief minister also instructed that the proposed data centers should comply with international standards for cybersecurity, data protection, and disaster recovery, adding that the project could be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
