The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has directed all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) to begin the process of de-affiliating private high and higher secondary schools that are not registered with the Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA). The directive was issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department on the instructions of Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi, who serves as the controlling authority of all education boards in the province. According to an official notification, education boards have been instructed to issue notices to all unregistered schools, giving them three months to obtain mandatory PSRA registration. Education Secretary Mohammad Khalid said the provincial government would take legal action against institutions operating without PSRA registration. According to PSRA Managing Director Javed Iqbal, a total of 387 private high and higher secondary schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain unregistered despite being affiliated with education boards.
