The College Fix reports:Professors push ‘antiracism’ therapy to train ‘white allies’ at psychology conferenceProfessors at the annual American Psychological Association conference advocated for “antiracism” in therapy to train “white allies,” according to a video released by watchdog group Accuracy in Media Monday. She advocated for psychologists to use “motivational interviewing to help white allies overcome their ambivalence in their antiracism commitment.” She also described an APA training for “white allies” called “Step Up and Step Back” where white attendees learned how to advocate for antiracism without centering themselves. Finally, the professor advocated for psychologists to use different therapy methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, to “help white allies overcome the various barriers that are part of their allyship journey.” She said “white allies” need to be taught “how to regulate the anxiety that gets activated when their white racial identity is brought to the fore.”
