In the second post, I walked through seven common examples of parents' "needs” and the real needs they’re pointing to.
What parents dismiss as children's "wants" are almost always needs too, which children are expressing the only way they know how.
These approaches allow needs for respect and consideration to be met by the children themselves, rather than by one child simply giving in.
What children do that parents read as wants are needs too.
That's what the needs framework makes possible: a way of being in a relationship where both people's needs are held with equal care.
