Stephen McIntyre died at Sankey for Penketh railway station on Saturday, July 11. An inquest into the death of the 59-year-old man was opened at Cheshire Coroner’s Court in Warrington on Wednesday. Police and paramedics were called to Station Approach Road in Sankey at 10.52am to reports of a casualty on the tracks. Coroner's officer PC Chris Birchall requested that an inquest into the death be opened due to the cause of death being unnatural. An emergency incident was declared at Sankey for Penketh railway station on July 11, with police and paramedics in attendance.
