At the time, Fauci was practically spitting in the face of anyone who dared suggest that COVID-19 had been leaked from a Chinese lab in Wuhan that just happened to be researching coronaviruses. But whenever Fauci reemerges in the public consciousness, it’s crucial to look deeper at a problem that goes beyond why Fauci alone should be viewed as one of the greatest villains of the 21st century. It’s not just that he abused “the science” to such an extent that he destroyed public trust in objective medicine for a generation. Don’t get me wrong, Fauci is a terrible human being, but he is a terrible human being who was embraced by the people we elected to represent us.
