Alto opponents call on federal government to withdraw support

Citizens group ALTNO says federal support should be withdrawn for the high-speed rail project for the same reason that it took away support for the Billy Bishop airport expansion.
TORONTO — Opponents of the Alto high-speed rail project are calling for the federal government to do the same with it as it did with the Billy Bishop airport in Toronto.
Article contentFederal Transportation Minister Steven MacKinnon announced almost a week ago that the federal government was withdrawing support for the proposed expansion of the city centre airport.
In response, 11 Conservative members of provincial parliament from eastern Ontario called for more scrutiny of the Alto project.
Opponents of the Alto project are also calling for federal support for the high-speed rail project to be withdrawn, too.
