Disrupts Wokha–Merapani road connectivityMorung Express NewsWokha | July 30Continuous rainfall triggered multiple mudslides and infrastructure damage in Wokha district on Thursday, disrupting road connectivity and raising fresh concerns over the vulnerability of the Wokha–Merapani road.
A mudslide was reported between Chüdi and Longtsüng villages under Sanis Subdivision, blocking the road and hampering the movement of vehicles.
The Wokha–Merapani road, one of the district’s key lifeline routes, continues to face recurring damage during the monsoon due to soil erosion beneath the road and frequent mudslides from the adjoining hill slopes.
The road serves as a crucial link between Wokha district headquarters and the Sanis and Bhandari subdivisions.
Any prolonged disruption caused by landslides or other natural calamities could isolate several villages from the district headquarters, affecting the movement of people, essential supplies and emergency services.
