This encouraged the charity Friends of the Dales to set up a not-for-profit community interest company under the brand name Dalesbus. It restored Sunday bus services to the Dales. The services are popular but most people still use a car to access the Dales. Even with the growth in electric vehicles, car trips to the Dales contribute to global warming and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority wants to achieve a higher proportion of trips by public transport to reduce carbon emissions. The Dales need a well planned and marketed public transport network that runs seven days per week.
