United Airlines announced that it is partnering with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the US Department of Transportation (DOT) on a more than $20 billion capital investment program aimed at transforming Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) over the next decade. The Airports Authority previously had $7 billion allocated for modernization work at the airport before this new investment was announced. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also weighed in on the announcement, saying the goal is to build an international gateway he described as worthy of the country.
