Petteril Bank Road is set to shut from its junction with the entrance to Carlisle City Football Club, extending south-west for about 40 metres. The planned closure is set to begin on July 31, to allow for bridge repair works. Cumberland Council have said that pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will still have access, and an alternative route for vehicles will be signposted. This route will go via the unrestricted section of Petteril Bank Road, St Ninian’s Road, Upperby Road, Boundary Road, Blackwell Road, St Nicholas Bridges, St Nicholas Street, and A6 London Road.
