A Cumberland Council spokesperson praised highways staff for their efficiency, completing phase one of the overnight works under time. Work on the Dalston road resurfacing scheme will now pause to avoid disruption to the Dalston Festival and Dalston Show. Dalston Festival takes place between August 2 and August 8, Dalston Show takes place on August 8. The council spokesperson said: "These works are helping to improve the condition of the road and provide smoother, safer journeys for everyone using the route." Phase one saw the resurfacing of Caldewhurst to Station Road, phase two will focus on The Square to Bridge End Inn and is scheduled for completion on September 4.
