Architects acting for applicants S. Abdulla and A. Salih have lodged proposals to turn 15–17 London Road into a hot food takeaway serving shawarma, with opening hours to 11pm on weeknights and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Plans show the frontage being stripped back and rebuilt to tie in with neighbouring No.
13, including a smooth render finish, new brick cills, and anthracite grey aluminium windows to create a more coherent elevation across Nos.
Because the site lies in the Carlisle Botchergate Conservation Area, the scheme leans heavily on local heritage policies, particularly Policy HE7 of the Carlisle District Local Plan 2015–2030.
The applicants argue the takeaway use “is not expected to generate unacceptable traffic levels”, pointing to existing double yellow lines on London Road and on‑street parking options on Charles Street and Close Street for customers.
