Aura Ireland, from Workington, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in January at just 18 months old and has spent much of this year getting treatment for the illness. Last Thursday, July 23, doctors confirmed to Sophie that Aura, who will turn two next Thursday, August 6, had beaten the disease. Aura has spent much time in hospital being treated for cancer. Sophie estimates that the community raised just short of £5,000 to support Aura and her family through treatment. "Although Aura probably won’t remember these moments in her life, I will make sure she knows how brave and resilient she is growing up."
