While Cumbria Constabulary has stressed that the increases are due to additional high-visibility patrols, Trafficking of Controlled Drugs rose from zero in 2023 and 2024 to one in 2025.
"As a result," it said, "increases in recorded offences can reflect increased police activity and detection rates, rather than solely an increase in offending."
Trafficking in Controlled Drugs and Possession of Controlled Drugs (Cannabis) also increased in Moss Bay and Salterbeck in 2025, while Possession of Controlled Drugs (Excluding Cannabis) remained static.
Moss Bay and Salterbeck saw four of the possession offences excluding Cannabis and four including the Class B drug in 2025.
Possession of Controlled Drugs (Excluding Cannabis) remained static at four in 2024 and 2024, after two of the offences were recorded in 2023.
