Dorset Council has set out its local SEND Reform Plan, focused on improving inclusion and outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Councillor Clare Sutton, cabinet member for children, families and education, said: "This is the beginning of a longer journey, not a sudden change. Current work includes strengthening inclusion in mainstream schools, expanding local specialist provision and developing inclusion hubs. Cllr Sutton said: "We know that some families have had difficult experiences of the SEND system, and we recognise the concerns many people have when they hear the word 'reform'. "I want families to know that we are listening and that our focus remains firmly on improving outcomes for children and young people."
