Poole Police confirmed that fire crews were called to Sandbanks following a fire in an upper-floor beach hut on Wednesday late afternoon. Sandbanks beach hut fire, Wednesday 29th July 2026 (Image: Matthew Singleton)Due to the Prescence of gas canisters and the initial spread of the fire, a large number of fire fighters attended the scene. Crews remained on the scene until around 8pm to make safe the surrounding huts that suffered damage. The force confirmed the fire has now been extinguished and the canisters have been safely removed. Poole Police said: "There is no wider risk to the public, but we politely ask people to avoid the immediate area so fire crews can work safely and can maintain easy access to water from the hydrant on Banks Road."
