BCP Council has approved the introduction of moving traffic enforcement, which would use cameras to target offences such as banned turns and stopping on yellow boxes.
The scheme aims to improve road safety and reduce congestion across the conurbations.
Councillor John Challinor said: “This to me seems like another Lib Dem cash grab against local motorists a majority of who will be our residents.”
Enforcement should exist to improve safety and compliance and not to become a significant budget line.”
Some councillors questioned why income was forecast to go up if the scheme is about compliance and were told that income is expected to go up as more sites have enforcement cameras added.
