Scottish para-athlete Melanie Woods faces losing her gold medal in the women’s T54 1,500m after it was decided the race will be replayed. Canada’s Nandini Sharma finished in second behind Woods, but was disqualified and stripped of her silver medal for her role in a crash in the first lap. The Scot claimed gold while England’s Ellis Kottas took silver and Mikaela Dingley of Australia got bronze. A protest and appeal from Team Canada were both rejected, while further appeals were made by Team Australia and Team Mauritius asking for the race to be held again. The para-athletics authorities have upheld those appeals and decided the race will be held again on Friday morning.
