(Image: Supplied)Datacentre builder Datagrid has secured two partners to lay a 2,300km subsea cable between Invercargill and Melbourne, the first international cable from the South Island.Datagrid on Friday morning announced it had signed a supply and installation contract with Alcatel Submarine Networks and OMS Group for the delivery of what it calls the “Tasman Ring Network”.Alcatel would supply the cable and OMS would carry out the survey, via an unmanned vessel, and the installation of the cable, the company said.It was expected to be operationa...
