The renovation at Downers Grove's McCollum Park features new playground equipment (Photo Provided By Downers Grove Park District)It’s been a long time coming, but the latest renovation work at Downers Grove’s McCollum Park will be celebrated at a ribbon cutting on Monday. The reimagined McCollum Park, 6801 Main St., has been updated to include new playgrounds and other enhanced recreational amenities. As Downers Grove’s flagship outdoor community park, the 50-acre McCollum Park serves as the park district’s flagship outdoor athletic facility and features numerous athletic fields, a 1.2 mile asphalt loop walking path, the Adventure Falls Mini Golf and the sprayground. Hartman noted that the renovation of McCollum Park was the district’s largest project in 2026. “Remaining projects for the year include a playground renovation at Concord Square Park and a variety of sealcoating projects.
