A pair of La Salle County men face charges after a July 21 pull-over conducted without authority and was uploaded to Snapchat.
Evin T. Hensley, 19, of rural Earlville, and Austin D. Michael, 20, of Sandwich, were both indicted Tuesday in La Salle County Circuit Court on two counts of unlawful use of oscillating lights, a Class 2 felony carrying three to seven years.
Following the fake traffic stop charges, La Salle County prosecutors asked that Hensley be kept in jail.
But the motorist saw and recognized Hensley inside the vehicle that pulled him over, according to the pleading.
When questioned, prosecutors said, Hensley “avoided accountability and acted like he did not know why the police would be talking to him.”
