The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against the five suspects arrested during a recent child sex sting in Walnut Creek, according to police.
Walnut Creek Police also clarified that although county jail records showed all five had been released, two of the suspects remain in custody.
The five men were arrested during a multi-agency operation led by the Walnut Creek Police Department and the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force after allegedly traveling to meet someone they believed was a child for sex.
Investigators said the operation targeted adults who used social media to sexually exploit children.
According to Walnut Creek Police, the ICAC Task Force works to identify and arrest online child predators before they can harm a real child through proactive investigations, training, and victim support.
