In 2025/2026, the council’s budget was £367.055 million, and the authority spent £365.833 million, which means the budget ended with a £1.222 million surplus.
The final position of the budget was reported to Powys County Council’s Liberal Democrat/Labour cabinet at a meeting on Tuesday, July 28.
Finance portfolio holder Cllr David Thomas (Labour – Tawe Uchaf) said: “The year-end underspend allows the council to strengthen its reserve position.
“The general reserve fund increase to £12.3 million represents four per cent of the council’s revenue budget.”
Cllr Thomas said the undelivered savings had been rolled over into this year’s budget.
