Fears about the safety of road surfaces in routes in the north of the county have been raised by residents as the council looks at possibly closing the depot later this year.
Staff at the depot are responsible for the maintenance of hundreds of kilometres of roads in Powys including gritting during winter months.
Residents in the areas around Llanfyllin have said that they would be concerned about roads in the area being missed if services were moved further south.
“There is also concern about the potential impact on winter maintenance arrangements serving Ysgol Llanfyllin.
“Any disruption resulting in reduced access to education during adverse weather would be of significant concern to the local community.”
