An analysis of Citizens Advice complaint data by home improvement specialist Leader Online found that between 2022 and January 2026, 16 per cent of home maintenance and improvement complaints in Ipswich were flagged as potential scams. This equated to 63 out of 394 complaints, putting the area fourth nationally. The East of England also recorded the highest regional potential scam rate, with 12 per cent of home maintenance complaints flagged as potential scams, while the North East recorded the lowest (9.2 per cent). "If those details feel vague, rushed, or keep changing, it’s sensible to pause before handing over money." Victims should report to Report Fraud or Citizens Advice Consumer Service by phone or online.
