Road Commission Reminds Public of Right-Of-Way Laws Regarding Signs

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission put out a statement indicating that unless otherwise regulated by township and other agencies, the following applies to temporary signs placed with the road right-of-way:· Permission must be granted from the adjacent property owner prior to placing signs.
· Signs must be 28 feet from the center of a road or the backside of the ditch where a roadside ditch exists.
· Any illegally placed signs will be removed.
· Signs removed by GTCRC crews will be kept for thirty days for first time offenders at the GTCRC offices, then discarded.
· GTCRC will no longer accept signs removed by others at our facilities.
